Fun Lesson Activity about The Sloth
This activity will teach kids a few facts about sloths and allow them to use their creative skills to draw their own sloth. First, hand out a sheet of construction paper to each child. Give them markers, and show them a picture of what a sloth looks like. Explain to them that sloths like to hang upside down in trees, and then, ask them to draw their own sloth hanging upside down from a tree. Once they draw and color their sloth hanging from a tree, share several basic facts about sloths with the kids. For example, “there are two toed sloths and three toed sloths,” “the stomach of sloths have four different parts, which helps the sloth to digest the leaves it eats,” and “sloths have a very long tongue that can reach up to one foot out of their mouth.” After several facts are shared, ask the children to pick their favorite fact that they learned and somehow represent it on their sheet of paper. Then, ask each child to share their picture and the fact that they chose.
