Fun Lesson Activity about The Mole
This hands on activity will get the kids excited to learn about moles. First, share a few facts about moles with all of the children. For every fact that is shared, show a picture or demonstrate. For example, the fact “moles have curved paws and claws” can be coupled with a close up picture of a mole’s paws and claws. Once the kids have learned a few basic facts about moles, take them outside. Give each child his or her own shovel. Explain to the children that moles dig tunnels and holes in the ground where they live. Tell them that moles are fast diggers, and then, ask them how fast and well they can dig a hole in the ground. Let them dig a hole in dirt or sand. Then, ask them how they think moles are able to dig so well. Explain to them that a mole’s paws and claws help them dig.
